The seeds of Kaua`i Bible Church (KBC) were sown in 1971 when a young schoolteacher began a Bible study & prayer meeting with a group of youth. She sensed that God was doing something more through these young people and reached out to Grace Bible Church on Oahu to ask if they would help turn this small group into a church. Grace Bible began to send over teams of young adults every weekend via plane and via boat to lay the foundation for a new church. In 1972, Kauai Bible Church was incorporated as a church under the leadership of our founding pastors: Loyd and Esther Watanabe. 

In 1974, Steve and Fay Johnson moved to Kaua`i to become our 2nd senior pastors. They brought with them Barry & Eileen Miyasato. While the Johnsons served KBC for 6 years, the Miyasato's have remained with KBC for 50 years and counting, providing leadership and wisdom across the decades. Aunty Eileen went home to be with Jesus in 2022, but Barry continues to be a part of KBC as elder emeritus. Pastor Steve led KBC through a season of growth including purchasing a parcel of land in 1979. In 1980, Bethany Christian Fellowship merged with KBC and their pastors, Bob & Sue Marchant, would soon take over as the senior pastors of KBC. The Marchant's oversaw the construction and dedication of our church building in 1982, the building we are still meeting in today.

Pastors Merv & Dar Walker moved to Kaua`i in 1991 beginning a journey of 26 years of serving KBC (one year as associate pastors, 25 years as senior pastors). They held the church together and served the island tirelessly following the devastation of Hurricane Iniki. They established KBC as a leading church on Kaua`i. In 2004, they spearheaded the miraculous purchase of an additional 30 acres adjacent to our church, giving KBC a total of 35 acres owned free and clear. Pastor Merv declared that this land would secure the future of KBC for generations to come. The Walker's also launched the Church On The Beach outreach in 2009 to serve the homeless and the needy on our island. Church On The Beach has taken many forms over the years and continues to meet needs to this day.

Pastors Aaron & Shannon Chidester moved to Kaua`i in 2017 to take over for the Walker's upon their retirement. Pastor Aaron continues to lead KBC as the senior pastor having shepherded the church through a worldwide pandemic and established the Masterpiece Process as our core discipleship process. We are currently laying the groundwork for the development of our 35 acres into a thriving campus that can serve the island and the nations in a variety of ways.

Kaua`i Bible Church has celebrated 50 years of advancing the Kingdom of God on Kaua`i. We continue to hold to our roots of prayer, Bible study, & powerful worship while also exploring the new expressions that God has for us to maximize technology, reach young families, and raise up the next generation.
